I decided to develop an introduction to my creative critical reflection in order to fully explain my product to the audience. I didn't want to jump right into my critical questions without explaining the basics of my magazine. The Introduction: The product I choose to develop from my project is a Travel Magazine. The difference though, between I normal travel magazine and mine is that it focuses on local places in South Florida and is catered to South Floridians. The concept is basically finding staycation for locals and for them to find new places to vist close to home. This particular issue of Local Travel-which is the name of the magazine-focuses on Coronavirus and the pandemic. This is because as things begin to open up again it is imperative that we focus on staying safe, so this issue finds local South Floridians places to visit where procations are taken so they have fun while being cautious. The main article in the magazine is called, “10 BEST LOCAL PLACES TO VIST DURING A PANDEMIC”. In the article I list 10 fun places for the whole family that have stepped up their game during the pandemic and or are outside, while also providing a brief description of what the place offers and how it is safer now after lockdown.
I completely misunderstood the question the first time I read it. So, I read through some examples and rewrote my response. My final response: Throughout the production of my magazine, I used much technology. For example, I started off by researching local attractions in South Florida on google and went on journalism websites to see what places reopened with new precautions. I also used technology to develop my magazine. My favorite website to use was Canva, which is an online magazine template website where you pick a layout and change the cosmetics of it. It was easy to use Canva and I developed my cover, table of contents, and article on it. The software I used my 2015 MacBook Air. My initial response: My magazine, LOCAL Travel, integrates technologies in many ways. For example LOCAL Travel has a website where the reader can buy an online subscription and be the first few people to read the new issues. The website will also include interactive challenges like travel trivia and raffles for free staycations. The magazine also will provide the reader with online activities for them to enjoy. For instance there might be an article about a new virtual museum or a virtual play that is happening soon. These are just a few ways my magazine, LOCAL Travel, incorporates technology.
My response did not change as I believed it answered the question well.My final response: The production of my magazine, LOCAL Travel, has developed throughout this project. While using Canva I have been able to improve my production skills. The more I use the application the better I become at using it and have figured out how to add more details instead of just surface level editing. I have also figured out how to make sure words pop, sentences aren't cropped out, and photos are clear. This increase in production skills have helped bring my magazine to the next level. My first response was subpar and needed more detail. Therefore, i decided to revise it after looking at more samples. My final response: My magazine LOCAL Travel’s audience is South Floridians of all ages. I focus on providing locals with places to visit in South Florida and try to include sometimes for the whole family. I fulfil my audiences needs by explaining how the operations have altered the attractions in order to make them safer and explaining what the attraction offers to ensure they pick the best place for their family! LOCAL Travel will be distributed all around South Florida. Since it is a local magazine, we focus on attracts in only South Florida so we would sell our magazines in grocery stores such as Publix, gas stations, local malls, airports, and convenience stores. Anywhere someone could possibly want to reach and grab our magazine we want it. This allows us to reach everyone and make it accessible for our audience. We also provide digital copies on our website for people who like to read electronically. We want to provide a way for everyone to read out magazine the way they like to read. These are the ways my magazine, LOCAL Travel, will be distributed around South Florida. My initial response: My magazine, LOCAL Travel, engages with audiences by providing giveaways, an interactive website, and more. I product that doesn't engage with its audience often fails so it is important that you have aspects of the product that audiences can interact with. For example, LOCAL Travel does a giveaway where you can enter contest to win a full kit of fun activities to do locally and also some money raffles. This allows the audience to keep wanting to read our magazine and maybe even refer it to others. We also have a website that readers can go to which gives links to all the local attractions mentioned in our magazine as a one stop shop for our audiences convenience. These are some of the ways that my magazine engages with our audience.

So, I decided look at more samples and revise it.My final answer: My magazine, Local Travel, both uses and challenges conventions. For example, my masthead on the cover page is very traditional as it is at the bottom of the page is bold capital letters, as most magazines are. But what my magazine avoids are challenges is the basic cluttered layout of traditional magazines. My magazine is very minimalistic as the cover only has the masthead, website name, and titles of only three of the articles. This also goes for my table of contents as it includes a photo and the article titles only. I decided to go with a more simplistic look as I thought it was different than most magazines and looked cleaner. I think now and days the simpler the better, as people don’t really want things to be pushed in their faces. So, I think my magazine does a good job at balancing simplicity while still catching someone's eye. My magazine is built to represent all social groups by finding something for everyone. This particular issue of LOCAL Travel focuses on the issue of Coronavirus and how to stay occupied while also staying safe. It represents this COVID-19 issue by providing 5O things to do while being safe. This list of things provides different activities for the entire family, ages two to ninety-two! Overall, my magazine represents one social issue in specific while also representing all social groups. My initial response to question 1: My product is a travel magazine. The way that my travel magazine challenges conventions is by focusing on travel local to my area. Most travel magazines are based on national or international travel destinations. I decided to challenge this concept because of the current COVID-19 pandemic. Coronavirus has caused most traveling to take a pause, so I wanted to make a magazine listing fun things you can do locally. Staying safe should be everyones top priority right now, but that doesn't mean all fun has to end. This is how my magazine challenges the norms of the magazine industry.
